  1. I never knew that about Bugs. Missed Casey Kasem as well, but got the rest. Natasha'a last name was Fatale, as far as I remember.

  3. I never understood "Boris Badenov" until much later (how many ten-year olds have heard of Modest Mussorgsky?) Greek shipping magnate Pericles Parnassus was a character on Rocky and Bullwinkle when Mrs. Kennedy was still Mrs. Kennedy. No cartoon ever came close to being comprehensible on one level by kids and another by adults.

    1. I did love Rocky and Bullwinkle.

      I only got the Boris Badenov joke because of another joke I didn't get, which someone explained to me.

      Once a Russian princess fell in love with a hunter and they determined to marry. The hunter was somewhat embarrassed at not being able to provide a magnificent feast in celebration, but the princess assured him that whatever he served would be fine.

      He was so delighted that he wrote an opera about their romance, which he called "Boar is Good Enough."

  4. Not so surprisingly, the only ones I knew were Mr. Peabody and Boris; I was a Rocket J. Squirrel/Bullwinkle J. Moose fan beginning when they first aired. Loved the Fractured Fairly Tales. The rest of the cartoons referred to I basically never saw.

  5. By the early 80's I had a theory that knowledge of Tennessee Tuxedo was a generational marker. Anecdotally the cartoon was known by most of my friends born in the early 60's, but almost totally unknown to those born after 1965. Outside of the 60's I have never seen reruns, so I think it remains pretty obscure. Inspired by this question I did a quick internet search and found content on Youtube and Netflix - might have to check the out against nearly 50 year-old memories.
