Fallujah is being ruled today as Fallujah was ruled under Saddam Hussein.
The police chief of Fallujah is a former member of Saddam Hussein’s Republican Guard. He rules the city with arbitrary arrests, torture, and a network of neighborhood spies.
One of his police captains sums it up: “Since Saddam Hussein until now, Iraq obeys only the force. We are practicing the same old procedures.”
Four thousand American soldiers dead, and the people we have put in charge of Iraq are “practicing the same old procedures.” Makes you feel sorta proud, doesn’t it?
