Media criticism

The Chinese Communist Party hates the New York Times as much as America’s own wingnuts do. Birds of a feather …

[Cf. John 3:20: “Every one that doeth evil hateth the light.]

  1. Worth revisiting the controversial coverage in question - http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/business/princ… - it's since won a Pulitzer, etc. I'm surprised that there's not been more visible reaction to this in China (although maybe I'm not paying enough attention). Maybe economic exploitation by the political elite will become a more salient issue once China's growth slowdown starts to effect more people… as long as living standards were rapidly improving for everyone, skimming a few billion here and there wasn't a problem.

  2. Would that the NYT were indeed, as Xinhua claims, "a typical Western media organization." The Chinese apparat doesn't have the same problems with Murdoch's journalists. does it?
