Marijuana legalization briefing at AEI

Video link and press coverage.

Jon Caulkins, Beau Kilmer, and I briefed our marijuana legalization book at AEI yesterday. (Angela Hawken couldn’t make it.)

Video here. (About 4o minutes.)
LA Times story here.

The story is much more negative about legalization than the briefing was intended to be, and much more negative than the book itself. The headline reads “Experts warn ‘beware’.” What we meant to say was something more like “Be cautious.” Yes, legalization has risks, especially if done sloppily, but the current system has substantial costs.

  1. Was it covered by C-SPAN? So many of the AEI talks get shown on C-SPAN. This is one I’d actually like to view.
