or so Sherlock Holmes said to Dr. Watson in the Adventure of the Priory School. But the British aristocracy would be put to shame by the post-nominals available to academics. To wit, the current issue of Journal of Opioid Managment includes an article by John S. Henshaw, MBBS, MMed, FANZCA, FFPMANZCA. The last of these is explained here

  1. My first two initials are JD. When I got my JD degree, my father suggested that I go on and get a doctorate and then become a Jesuit priest so I could be JD X JD SJD SJ.

  2. There’s a German joke, illustrating the agglutinative possibilities of the language, about the allegedly genuine job title Oberdonaudampfschifffahrtgesellschaftskapitän (captain for the Upper Danube Steamship Company). This would presumably acronymize as ODDSFGSK.

Aren’t FANZCA and its even hippier offshoot FFPMANZCA rival festivals in the War On Christmas?
