Friday Cats(blogging) with Thumbs

Catblogging with an opposable twist

When Slate ran a story on the Supreme Court free speech case about the high school student who got in trouble for the sign “Bong Hits 4 Jesus,” the sub-editor understandably couldn’t think of a better headline than “Bong Hits 4 Jesus.”

In similar mode, I can’t improve on… “Cats with Thumbs.”

Via Adweek’s 10 Best Commercials of 2011—though to my mind Nissan Leaf’s “Gas Powered Everything” takes the prize.

Author: Andrew Sabl

Andrew Sabl, a political theorist, is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto. He is the author of Ruling Passions: Political Offices and Democratic Ethics and Hume’s Politics: Coordination and Crisis in the History of England, both from Princeton University Press. His research interests include political ethics, liberal and democratic theory, toleration, the work of David Hume, and the realist school of contemporary political thought. He is currently finishing a book for Harvard University Press titled The Uses of Hypocrisy: An Essay on Toleration. He divides his time between Toronto and Brooklyn.

  1. The Leaf commercial is great, but does it have Tim Curry doing the narration? No, it does not. Advantage cats!
