McCain and the veterans: talk v. action

Hilzoy nails the Straight Talker:
I do not, and never would, question either John McCain's personal heroism or his admiration and respect for veterans. If I hadn't just gone and looked up his record on veterans' issues, it would not occur to me to wonder whether that admiration and respect had actually translated into action. But I did, and it didn't.
