Remember all those years we waited, hoping that Bush’s approval line on the way down would finally cross the disapproval line on the way up? For someone to finally put an ornament on the top of the Christmas tree?
And yes, the new Newsweek number probably isn’t right, but it does restore a lovely symmetry, doesn’t it? The rate of decline has been reasonably steady at about 12 points a year since the post-9/11 peak. That would have the Beloved Leader down in the low teens by the time he leaves.
Sure, that seems implausible. But don’t misunderestimate the Commander Guy. It’s like he and his crew are playing charades, and the word is “decompensate.”
