"Prison rape is not a punchline"

Ezra Klein nails the sick pop-culture consensus that sexual assault is funny as long as the victims are prisoners. When California Attorney General Bill Lockyer (a progressive Democrat, mind you) spoke of his desire "to personally escort [Ken] Lay to an 8-by-10 cell that he could share with a tattooed dude who says, 'Hi, my name is Spike, honey,' " that should have ended his political career. No such luck.
