Progressive Blog Digest: a daily "must-read"
Saturday night Steve (SteveAudio) and Pam Anderson had a nice little get-together for some of the LA Blue-blogger crowd. At one point, I mentioned that Nick Burbules's Progressive Blog Digest was on my daily "must-read" list and discovered to my horror that most of the others hadn't heard of it.
So consider this a pitch for adding PBD to your favorites list or your blogroll. It's just about a pure weblog, in the original sense of the term: it consists of links to items (in this case, items from the progressive blogosphere plus items from the MSM that progressives need to see) that the weblog keeper thinks worthy of his audience's attention. That's by contrast with — just to take a random example — the Reality-Based Communikty, which consists of its authors' opinions with links to various on-line sources.
As a result, PBD doesn't pick up many links, since the substance is always in what he's pointing to rather than Nick's personal "take" on the story, which is mostly confined to the headlines. But it's an astonishingly useful service, and would be more so if more people read it.
