This weekend I was on the Slate Money podcast with Felix Salmon and Jordan Weissmann.

We had a great conversation discussing many things:

• Running through the insights of our Index Card book, about which RBC readers are only too familiar.
• My Century Foundation report with Tim Jost on next steps for the ACA.
• Policy challenges in addressing Chagas disease. Martin Shkreli brought this disease into prominence, with his unsentimental efforts to profit from familiar medications not yet commercially licensed by the FDA. Chagas and other diseases affect Americans but that could be efficiently prevented through public health prevention measures in the southern hemisphere.
• The insanity of paying young athletes huge paychecks rather than annuities spread out over time .

We were having a lovely conversation until the very end, when something bad happened that just wasn’t my fault.

Felix said nice things about that insufferable Mariah Carey song “All I want for Christmas is you.” When I attempted to correct the record, Jordan Weissmann offered the rebuttal “You shut your mouth. It is a wonderful song.” At which time we got into a big brawl and pretty much destroyed the Slate studio. Even worse, my wife and daughter heard the podcast and started playing it in my house.
