…was recruited to the Romney campaign as an expert in national security - this means Romney’s team thought he was the best person for the job (did I mention, the job is national security?) - and has plausible credentials in the field. Mitt Romney let his gay-bashers run him out of town without a peep, so we have another data point on Romney’s character: not only is he OK with anti-gay prejudice, and not only won’t he stand up for his people (the morale meter at Romneyville must be bouncing on the zero peg), but he is willing to sacrifice national security to please a bunch of ignorant bigots. What a guy; spineless, bigoted and treasonous.
If he’s afraid of a piece of garbage like Brian Fischer, it doesn’t bode well for his dealings with any foreign leader who can say “boo” in English.
Really? He apparently was John Bolton’s chief aide. According to some press accounts, he was equally unilateralist and bellicose, but less tempered by a semblance of what we might call diplomacy. He was also apparently infamous for lying to the press with gay abandon. And he had a (hastily deleted) twitter stream apparently full of crudities and misogynist outbursts.
Look: it’s a travesty that he was fired for being Gay. It is an entirely different travesty, and I think in many ways a more worrisome one, that he was ever hired in the first place, for reasons having nothing at all to do with his sexuality or his private life generally. We can probably assume the person hired to replace him will be a safely heterosexual nutball holding the same absolutely insane foreign policy views that Grenell does, someone that will similarly think 2002-2003 was a high point for American foreign policy.

Every one of those things counts as a positive credential to the people doing the hiring as well as all of those doing the complaining that Romney hired a gay person. By their standards, the only thing wrong with Grenell is that he’s gay.
Was Grenell perhaps a Log Quisling Republican?

Or French, for that matter.

Mitt Romney “afraid” of Bryan Fischer and his buds in the family-shmamily homophobe lobby? Far from it, I’d guess - whatever Mitt and his crew actually think about that crowd, they’re way too dependent on Big Hate for electoral support (well, to be honest, more a lack of opposition than support, but what’s the diff…) to want to tick them off.

More and more, we’re discovering that Mitt Romney is spineless, a hollow man. He has no core convictions, and just puts on a different mask depending who he’s talking to. Why should we believe this guy will defend America’s core values when they’re under threat?
What a guy; spineless, bigoted and treasonous.
And filthy rich.
He made 21 million in 2010. Didn’t get his hands dirty. Didn’t do anything remotely resembling real work…
And paid less taxes on that “income” than the janitors who cleans his numerous toilets.
(Assuming Romney pays his servants a living wage. And if the hired help is Mormon, he probably does.)
How this culture tolerates the investor class is beyond me.
The biggest lie on earth: The investor class earns their money because they work so hard.
The biggest sin on earth: Every President since Reagan who has signed a bill lowering the taxes on the filthy rich. Shame on you Bill Clinton.
