You really ought to read David Kennedy’s books on crime and poverty, but if you are pressed for time, the next best thing would be to listen to this recent Fresh Air broadcast on his work and career. The interview gives an excellent sense both of his basic approach to reducing violent crime as well as his moral commitment to people who live in low-income neighborhoods.
