Admittedly, good news is scarce tonight, but it’s delightful to see the voters of Rhode Island tell Frank Caprio to take his rudeness toward the President and really shove it. Better yet, Republican-turned-independent Lincoln Chafee, the most liberal candidate in the race, is - just barely - beating the Republican, and will apparently be the next governor.
Last night was entirely due to Obama’s failure to do the job. Being rude to the President seems to be the proper order of the day.
Second worst President in 70 years.
Rubbish. It’s the President’s job to support members of his party, no matter who he happens to be friendly with. Shame on Obama.
Embarrassingly bad post. You know nothing about this race. It is preposterous to call Chaffee liberal. (And what the hell are you doing supporting hereditary succession?)

Caprio had every right to be outraged.
Mrs. Bong is apparently unfamiliar with Caprio’s positions on E-Verify (supported), same-sex marriage (put it on the ballot), and other issues that made him less liberal than Chafee.
It shows how pathetic and out of touch modern day American liberalism is that bourgeois issues like “Gay marriage” trump issues like taxing the poor and unemplyed. Adopting a regressive tax system that resembles Alabama’s is more acceptable than (the horror, the horror), of supporting civil unions instead of gay marriage.
(in the liberal imagination, that is.)
You’re right, economic justice is far more important than bourgeois issues like economic justice for immigrants.
Benjamin,
Immigrants would be exempt from Chaffee’s taxes on food, clothes, and medicine?
You misread what Mark wrote. You misread what I wrote. Why are you here?
I read you both with 100% comprehension. Your boutique “i’m on the side of Andrew Sullivan!” concerns trump worries about Chaffee’s plutocratic worldview. Did you enjoy Newport this summer?
And people wonder why Dems are no longer the party of the working man.
