Perhaps you were trying to be non-political, but I think you do a disservice when you repeat the conventional wisdom that it takes 60 votes to accomplish things in the US senate. It takes 60 votes to overcome a filibuster but only 50 to accomplish almost everything. That the media doesn’t clarify this means you fail to alert citizens of what the problem is and who is responsible. (or at least that is what this Canadian thinks).
It would be, if they were obstructing everything, which they’re not.
Anyway, the sad fact is, it really requires far less than 50 votes in the Senate which both parties’ leadership agree on: They simply circumvent the quorum requirement by holding voice votes.
