I can see why Bobby Jindal is a little confused about why anyone is worried that he lied in his response to Obama’s speech. Remember the GOP catechism:
1. Ronald Reagan was the greatest President since Jesus Christ.
2. As such, Ronald Reagan was the living embodiment of good human character.
3. The Gipper made up stories all the time: pollution comes from plants and trees, the welfare queen who never existed, “we never negotiated with terrorists and never will” while trading arms for hostages with Iran, etc.
4. Thus, telling stories that are not true has nothing to do with lying; because
5. See Number 1.
This must really be mystifying to him and everyone at the CPAC conference. For the rest of us, it might be evidence that we are finally entering a post-Reagan era.
